Will Smith has been on the press junket for the past few weeks promoting his new film Suicide Squad and from the look of things, he’s been having a great time. He’s performed ‘Miami’ at a Suicide Squad block party and talked politics with Stephen Colbert while also dusting off the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air hit ‘Summertime.’ However, it seems that Smith’s nostalgia for the past only extends so far.
Smith notably didn’t both starring in Independence Day: Resurgence even though he would have received a dump truck of money to do so and he also hates Wild Wild West just as much as everyone else, if not more so. And when it comes to the possibility of rebooting Fresh Prince, which aired on NBC from 1990-1996, Smith’s interest may actually be less than non-existent.
E!Online reports that when Smith was asked whether or not he would want to bring back The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, he said “I don’t think ever, like pretty close when hell freezes over. Like we’re going to leave that one alone.”
Smith’s lack of interest in a Fresh Prince revival seem to run counter to reports from last year that suggested a reboot was in the works with Smith serving as a producer. However, some reports have indicated that this was actually an original sitcom inspired by Fresh Prince, rather than an actual reboot.
Perhaps it’s for the best. After all, Big Willie Style would probably just cast his son Jaden as the new Fresh Prince and absolutely no one wants to see that. We’ll just be content to have our memories untainted:
