We’re still a couple weeks away from the actual debut of the long-awaited return of The X-Files, but FOX is slowly teasing us with short trailers and hints of what to expect from the six-part miniseries.
For new (or perhaps just younger) fans of Agents Mulder and Scully, you can now watch the first minute of the premiere episode and get a concise refresher course about what The X-Files was all about. In the video, you can hear Agent Fox Mulder (David Duchnovy) talking about his own personal obsession with the paranormal, and how the disappearance of his sister (when the two were still kids) sparked a lifelong mission to get answers. The video then details how the FBI partnered him with Agent Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson), a scientist and known skeptic, in order to keep his crazy ideas in check.
In keeping with the actual timeline of the original series ending in 2002, the video closes with this line:
“In 2002, in a change of direction and policy, the FBI closed the X-Files and our investigations ceased. But my personal obsession did not.”
The X-Files, and the search for the truth, continues on January 24.
