Since the demise of the Governor, fans of The Walking Dead television series have been salivating over the eventual appearance of Negan, probably the most evil and vicious villain to ever appear in the comic book.
If you’ve ever read the comic, Negan is the foul-mouthed, sadistic, barbed-wire bat wielding leader of the Saviors (a group of survivors who provide protection to communities in exchange for supplies — kind of like the mafia). The big question is when will he appear on AMC’s hit TV show?
No official word has been given, although it was Jon Hamm from Mad Men has previously said he would live to play the role. Now TWD showrunner Scott Gimple says that fans may not have to wait much longer.
“It’s absolutely a possibility,” said Gimple when asked by Entertainment Weekly about the Negan being in the upcoming season. “And when I say it’s a possibility, we have a plan in place, but there’s a couple variables for that plan that we’re deciding about. It really depends on a few factors as we move into setting up the last bit of the season story-wise.”
In terms of timing, the show is getting close. Negan first appears in issue #100 of the comic, and the show is currently up to approximately issue #80 in terms of story lines. Could Negan end up as the cliff hanger in the season finale the same way Michonne was the cliffhanger at the end of season two?
