Everyone knows that a major character is going to die at the hands of Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan in the season seven premiere of The Walking Dead. However, recent comments from the actor seem to confirm that his character won’t be stopping at one.
“Negan’s not just going to kill one person in [the premiere],” Morgan tells Den of Geek. “He’s not afraid of bashing in skulls.”
Of course, just because Negan’s kill count is going to be a bit higher than expected doesn’t necessarily mean that he’s going to kill two (or more) major characters off. Minor background characters die all the time on The Walking Dead, so it’s possible that Morgan is referring to some nobody Alexandrian who crosses him, or even one of his own men who disobeys him/says something he doesn’t like.
Then again, we can’t stop thinking about the recent sneak peak teaser that was released. In that scene, we not only see Negan hint that he may be about to chop Rick’s right hand off, but we also get a full-on glimpse of the brain matter of his deceased victim. As ComicBook.com has pointed out, there’s an object in that pile of gore that looks a lot like Maggie’s wedding ring. Is it possible that both Maggie and Glenn are Negan’s victims? It would certainly achieve the shock factor that AMC has been hyping for the last six months.
All will be revealed when The Walking Dead returns October 23 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
