After months of speculation, we can officially confirm Rosario Dawson will play Ahsoka Tano in season 2 of The Mandalorian.

As reported by /Film this afternoon, Dawson has been cast to play Ahsoka in the popular Star Wars series, and as fans of the rumor from the beginning, we couldn’t be more pleased! Co-created by Dave Filoni (a producer, writer, and director for The Mandalorian) and George Lucas, Ahsoka was initially introduced as Anakin Skywalker’s Jedi padawan apprentice in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Since making her debut, the Jedi has appeared in Star Wars: Rebels, comics, video games, and as a rather awesome voice cameo in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Ahsoka wasn’t well-received by fans at first, but much like Harley Quinn’s debut in Batman: The Animated Series, it didn’t take long for her to become a fan favorite and widely accepted as Star Wars canon.

Earlier this year, we learned the second season of The Mandalorian would include “several established characters from the Skywalker saga’s feature film mythology,” which is about the time rumors of the Clerks II actress playing Ahsok began. Shortly after the news was announced, fans took to social media to share their thoughts and fan-casting suggestions, one of which caught the attention of the Dawson… and she very much approved.

What are your thoughts on Dawson playing Ahsoka in The Mandalorian? Do you think she’s have a minor or more significant role in season 2? Let us know in the comments below.
