The UFC’s Golden Boy could be branching out to other business interests.
Conor McGregor, who recently became the first UFC fighter in history to hold championships in two weight classes simultaneously, has reportedly signed on to appear somewhere in the final two seasons of HBO’s hugely popular Game of Thrones.
According to a report from Metro, unnamed sources confirmed the fighter’s transition over to acting.
“It’s been agreed that McGregor will appear in one of the remaining two seasons of Game Of Thrones,” said the source. “He was headhunted as it were by HBO, as one of the Game Of Thrones directors is a huge UFC fan. They believed that he would be a perfect fit for the show.”
Game of Thrones regularly films in and around Ireland, so it wouldn’t be much of a stretch for native of Dublin to make a cameo appearance. However, it’s not very likely that McGregor’s role would be significant. Other celebrities have made minor appearances in the show, including Gary Lightbody (the lead singer of Snow Patrol), members of Coldplay (seen during the Red Wedding), and the metal band Mastadon (who played wildlings in “Hardhome”).
Keep your eye out for McGregor when Season Seven (finally) arrives in Summer 2017.
