Potential ‘Game of Thrones’ Spoilers: An Old Force Could Make Strong Power Play

While most Game of Thrones fans are anxiously looking forward to the inevitable showdown between Daenerys and her army and the forces of King’s Landing, a recent report from Watchers on the Wall hints at another player entering the game, so to speak.

Spoilers below!

According to Watchers on the Wall, a character who hasn’t been seen since Season Five will be reappearing in Season Seven — Tycho Nestoris, better known as “the guy from the Iron Bank of Braavos.” Played by Mark Gatiss, the banker will reportedly show up in King’s Landing and demand that Cersei begin repayment of the hefty debt incurred by both the Crown and the Lannister family.

If you remember, the Iron Bank agreed to fund Stannis Baratheon and his claim to the throne. With Stannis dead, the bank has lost that investment and likely needs to recoup some of their loans. Queen Cersei doesn’t seem to be very agreeable with anyone these days, so we can’t imagine Nestoris showing up and asking her to make good on the debt will go over smoothly.

Then again, the Iron Bank has a tendency to fund the enemies of those who don’t repay. So how Cersei decides to react to the Iron Bank’s demands could cause a huge swing in the balance of Westeros power.
