The Walking Dead will be back before you know it, and if you saw the amazing season six trailer from Comic Con, you already know that things are going to be intense.

Norman Reedus, who plays Rick Grimes’ right-hand-man Daryl Dixon, is a huge fan favourite — and he knows it. The internet is filled with “If Daryl Dies, We Riot” stuff. Not only an internet meme, but stores are actually selling shirts, phone cases, and other swag with the battle cry phrase on them. But in the The Walking Dead universe, we’ve already seen that characters — even main characters — are rarely safe. The fact that Daryl is not a character in the comics means that anything could happen to him in the show, even a grisly death.

Reedus was recently asked by Comic Book Resource about the potential of fan riots should the writers off his character.

“I like a good riot. I remember the LA riots, and I was like, ‘Why don’t we get the DMV? Let’s take down the DMV. Why are we taking down this store? Who needs a TV? Let’s burn the DMV!’”

So if Daryl dies, you would prefer your fans specifically riot at the DMV?

“Just go straight to the DMV, yeah. Take out all your anger at the DMV.”

There you have it, Daryl Dixon fans. If the most beloved character in show history meets his untimely end, grab your pitch forks and torches and head down to your nearest Department of Motor Vehicles to take your frustrations out on the inefficient and incompetent government bureaucracy.
