Netflix Has Officially Started Filming ‘The Punisher’ Series

Via Netflix

Good news, Marvel fans. Netflix and Marvel Television have officially begun the filming of their latest series, this time starting Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead) as deadly vigilante Frank Castle, aka The Punisher.

Bernthal first played the role in Season Two of Daredevil, and the fan reaction was so overwhelming that Netflix immediately planned to create a new show for the character. The Punisher was not originally one of the planned Marvel series for Netflix, but it has now been added to the list of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders.

With Bernthal signing on to stay in the role, it’s also possible that The Punisher could make brief appearances in any future seasons of the shows listed above, as they all share the same Marvel Universe (which is also a smaller part of the much larger Marvel Cinematic Universe, featuring The Avengers).

JustJared.com has released the first photos from the set of The Punisher, featuring the star in a black hoody, combat boots, and a full beard.

Since the filming has now started, we can probably expect The Punisher to hit Netflix sometime next summer or fall.
