Netflix Announces Next Interactive Content Will Be a Wilderness Survival Series

When Black Mirror: Bandersnatch hit Netflix in December, lots of people loved the Choose-You-Own-Adventure style of storytelling. The multiple paths that you could take led many viewers to watch and re-watch Bandersnatch dozens of times, as they tried to unlock the correct series of choices to see every single ending.

Netflix has just announced their next ambitious project, a wilderness survival series starring Bear Grylls, best known for his own reality show Man vs. Wild (and the “better drink my own pee” memes). Of course, due to a lawsuit from the publisher of the Choose-Your-Own-Adventure books, Netflix is simply calling the new series, which is titled You vs. Wild, “interactive content.”

The official synopsis is about what you’d expect:

“In You vs. Wild, viewers join survival expert Bear Grylls on exciting adventures all over the world. Dense jungles, towering mountains, brutal deserts, and mysterious forests await, with tough decisions around every corner. In this groundbreaking interactive adventure series, you make all the decisions and whether or not Bear succeeds or fails is totally up to you.”

The trailer, however, is a lot more fun. Each short YouTube clip leads you down a path of other YouTube links, as you basically create your own trailer based on your answers. Here’s the starting point, an incoming call from Grylls himself:

Will You vs. Wild have the same success as Bandersnatch? We won’t have to wait long to find out, as the series hits Netflix on April 10.
