‘Narcos’ Will Return For Seasons 3 & 4 On Netflix

Narcos, Netflix’s intense drama focused on Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar, launched its second season on the streaming service just last week, but it’s already been renewed for two more seasons of drug-fueled mayhem.

According to Deadline, José Padilha (Elite Squad, RoboCop) and Eric Newman (Children of Men) will continue to serve as executive producers for seasons 3 and 4. As the report notes, it’s rare for Netflix to make multi-season renewals and in the case of Narcos, it’s especially surprising given that Escobar (superbly portrayed by Wagner Moura) dies at the conclusion of the latest season.

However, as Newman tells EW, there’s still more to the story even after Pablo’s death. “I think that there’s a lot of story left to be told in Colombia,” Newman said. “This show has always been about cocaine. We purposely did not call the show Pablo Escobar or Medellin … If somebody wants another season of the show, we would sit down and draw from the pretty massive amount of real estate and research that we’ve done and do something kind of cool.”
