A six episode limited series based on the hugely popular novel Good Omens, co-written by acclaimed fantasy novelists Neil Gaiman and the late Terry Pratchett, has been officially announced and will air on Amazon Prime Video and BBC in 2018. Production on the show actually began in 2011, before Pratchett passed away from early onset Alzheimer’s, and the project has been spearheaded by Gaiman alongside Pratchett’s daughter Rhianna (a noted creative force in the video games industry herself), and his former assistant who were appointed custodians of Pratchett’s literary assets following his death. The scripts for the episodes were written by Gaiman, whose novel American Gods is also set to debut as a limited series on Starz in 2017.

Good Omens is a humorous and insightful take on the birth of the Anti-Christ, who is supposed to shepherd the coming of the Apocalypse, but is instead raised by a perfectly normal family in Oxfordshire, England, as well as the misadventures of a demon and angel who spend years safeguarding and teaching what turns out to be the wrong boy. The novel has already been turned into both a BBC Radio production and a stage play. You can read the full announcement here.
