Marvel’s ‘The Punisher’ Is Officially Getting His Own Netflix Series

Marvel’s vengeful antihero, The Punisher, is officially getting his own TV series.

As reported by EW, Marvel has ordered a spin-off series based on The Punisher character from Daredevil Season 2, with Jon Berenthal reprising the title role.

Steve Lightfoot, known for his work on Hannibal and Casualty, will serve as showrunner.

The Punisher series marks the sixth collaboration between Marvel and Netflix, which includes Luke Cage (premiering in September), Iron Fist, the crossover series The Defenders, as well as Jessica Jones and the aforementioned Daredevil. There’s no word yet on whether or not Berenthal’s character will make an appearance in The Defenders, though it seems likely considering how interconnected each series is.

Marvel has yet to announce an expected launch date for The Punisher.
