Marvel and Netflix had a major hit with critics and audiences alike earlier this year with Daredevil, the first of four planned series focused around street-level superheroes in the wider Marvel universe. Now, the release date has been revealed for their next offering.
Jessica Jones, based on the comic book series Alias by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Michael Gaydos, will have its entire first season released on the streaming service November 20th, 2015. The show follows Jones (Krysten Ritter), a former superhero who hangs up her heroic duds to fight crime as a private investigator in New York City. The show’s cast also includes former Doctor Who David Tennant, Rachael Taylor, and Carrie-Anne Moss.
While Jessica Jones sounds like more of a gamble for Marvel and Netflix than Daredevil was, as the latter character is definitely more of a household name than the former, hesitant viewers can take solace in the fact that the show will tie into the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe and also feature Luke Cage (Mike Colter) before the hero receives his own show sometime next year.
