Marvel Might Be Making A ‘Moon Knight’ Netflix Series

With the recent success of Daredevil‘s first season and the imminent arrival of Jessica Jones in November, it’s understandable that Netflix would be looking for even more superheroes to base a whole TV show around. Enter Moon Knight, the possible fifth entry into the Marvel-Netflix television deal.

Cinemablend is reporting that Heroic Hollywood’s Umberto Gonzalez recently let slip that he’s heard rumors that Netflix is working on getting a Moon Knight series off the ground.  Allegedly, the company wants to wait and see what the reaction is to The Punisher’s introduction in the next season of Daredevil in 2016 before putting a pilot into production.

The Marvel-Netflix deal was first announced back in November 2013, with orders for four shows — Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist — as well as the crossover miniseries The Defenders. Considering the critical acclaim that Daredevil has received and the fact that pretty much everything Marvel-related seems to be performing well right now, it makes sense that Netflix would be eager to extend that deal.

For context, Moon Knight is often referred to as Marvel’s version of Batman, since they are both vigilantes who make heavy use of gadgets, which would make him a great fit for the lower budget, street-level crimefighting of the rest of The Defenders roster.

We’ll have more news as this story develops.
