Lynda Carter, a.k.a. the original Wonder Woman, made headlines recently when it was announced that she would be appearing on The CW’s Supergirl as the President of the United States. While fans were overjoyed to see Carter return to her DC roots, many wondered whether this meant that she might spring for a cameo in the upcoming Wonder Woman movie starring Gal Gadot in the title role.
Unfortunately, it turns out that Carter won’t be doing any sort of cameo in the Patty Jenkins-directed film, but it wasn’t because she didn’t want to; she just couldn’t find the time!
“We were trying to see if I could do something with the movie, but it didn’t work out. The timing was off, and I was doing other things and couldn’t get over to where they were shooting.”
From the sounds of it, Carter was open to doing a walk-on role, but it just didn’t work out. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that Carter is determined to get a cameo set up for a possible Wonder Woman sequel, as she’s happy to leave certain things in the past. When asked whether she would make an appearance in the next Wonder Woman film, here’s what she had to say:
“I might, but at this point in my life, I pretty much do new parts in things. There’s someone else doing the role now, and that’s OK. They should do it. I support Gal wholeheartedly, and I wish her and Patty all the success in the world.”
While you won’t catch Carter returning to her Wonder Woman roots anytime soon, you can catch her in the third episode of Supergirl’s second season, which just aired its premiere episode earlier this week.
