Luke Cage

‘Luke Cage’ Features Hard To Spot ‘Back to The Future’ Easter Egg

Wait, does the Marvel Cinematic Universe take place in the same fictional space that once featured Marty McFly and Doc Emmett Brown?

Marvel’s Luke Cage, the latest television series exclusive to Netflix, contains tons of fun Easter eggs, but most of them relate to other Marvel characters or stories. But in Episode 10 (“Take It Personal” for those keeping track of episode titles), Detective Misty Knight finds a newspaper clipping with something a little extra.

Credit goes to Reddit user Leahcimwerf for first posting about it, but if you check out the side story of this screenshot, you’ll notice an interesting tale about an inventor names Brown who invented a “Thrust Capacitor” that might one day make time travel possible. It even mentions that Brown got in some trouble back in 1985 for involving a teenage boy named “Mac Fly” in his experiments. Hmmm, sounds familiar.

Since Marvel is owned by Disney and Back to the Future is owned by competitor Universal Pictures, dreams of a time travelling Luke Cage or Daredevil riding in the DeLorean can probably be put to rest. Still, it’s a nice tribute from the people in charge of Luke Cage to pay homage to a movie that is universally loved.
