Warning: this article will contain spoilers for Game of Thrones.

With that out of the way, we can get right into the most anticipated Game of Thrones return since Jon Snow was brought back from the dead. According to Watchers on the Wall, actor Joe Dempsie has been spotted on the set, filming scenes in Spain. If you don’t know who Joe Dempsie is, he’s better known to GoT fans as Gendry, aka the bastard child of King Robert Baratheon (and possibly the one true king of Westeros).

From WotW:

Gendry is back in the story after a three season absence, and surprisingly he will return to the place we saw him last: Dragonstone. We already had some compelling evidence that Dempsie would return this coming season, but seeing him here is certainly a bit of a shock. What are the possible circumstances of Gendry ending up in Dragonstone again, after keeping on rowing for so many years? Did he circumnavigate the Earth in his little boat, and ended up where he started?

For anyone who has forgotten, Gendry was sent away from the Stannis Baratheon Camp by Davos Seaworth, who figured he was saving the potential heir to the throne from being sacrificed by Melisandre in order to create a blood sacrifice for Stannis’ quest for the iron throne.

Gendry’s return could be problematic. With Daenerys, Jon Snow, and now Gendry all having a legitimate claim to the throne, someone will have to be willing to compromise. But for everyone who has dutifully been on #GendryWatch since Season Three, we can safely say that now your watch has ended.
