At this point, anything that happens in Game of Thrones’ sixth season is secondary to what’s going on with Jon Snow, as far as most fans are concerned. The fallout from last season’s infamous cliffhanger continues to be at the forefront of everyone’s mind, especially as we edge ever closer to the show’s April return date.
Of course, Kit Harington, the actor who plays Jon Snow, has been hounded for months by questions regarding his character’s fate. While speaking to the Digital Spy this week, Game of Thrones naturally came up. Here’s what he had to say in regard to Jon Snow’s fate:
“I was hoping that there would be an outcry of ‘why?’ and ‘oh god, no, no’ rather than ‘thank god.’ That was the right reaction as far as I was concerned! People didn’t want me to die, but he’s dead. So there you go, everyone has to get used to it.”
Harington’s comments would seem to close the book on Jon Snow once and for all, but his choice of words is interesting. Echoing recent comments made by his Thrones co-star Maisie Williams recently, Harington claims that Snow is dead…but he doesn’t say that he’s off the show. As any list of fan theories will tell you, there are numerous ways for Jon Snow to still be in the show while still technically being dead: he could be resurrected, turned into a white walker, or even used as a host by his brother Bran, who we know has the power to control other people.
That being said, Harington’s admission that he “[hasn’t] done Thrones in awhile,” could definitely be read as evidence that he is done with the show. Either way, we’ll just be glad when the show finally returns and we can finally have this whole thing sorted out.
