Yes, we live in a world where there is somehow a controversy over a supposed racist Walking Dead T-shirt. British retailer Primark has pulled a licensed shirt that featured Lucille, Negan’s infamous barbed-wire baseball bat, and the words “Eeny Meeny Miny Moe.” Negan famously spoke those words in the comic and on the AMC television show before deciding which one of Rick’s group would meet a grisly demise (RIP Glenn).
The problem is that the rhyme apparently has a dark origin. While many people may know the next line as “catch a tiger by the toe,” which is how it’s said in The Walking Dead, the rhyme originally had much more racist language. Namely, the word “tiger” was replaced by the similarly spelled and highly offensive N-word.
Here’s the shirt:
Reaction on social media have been mixed, with some people condemning the shirt’s design and others defending it, saying anyone offended needs to understand the specific context. Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the man who actually plays Negan on the show, has also chimed in, in typical Negan fashion.

“Holy crap people are stupid.”
There you have it. Negan has spoken.
Meanwhile, Primark has released a very politically correct statement, apologizing for the shirt.
“The t-shirt in question is licensed merchandise for the U.S. television series, The Walking Dead, and the quote and image are taken directly from the show. Any offence caused by its design was wholly unintentional and Primark sincerely apologises for this.”
