If you haven’t already seen Taika Waititi’s brilliant vampire comedy What We Do in the Shadows, do yourself a favor and seek it out immediately (Hint: it’s on Netflix in some regions). It borrows the classic mockumantary style of films like This is Spinal Tap or Borat, and (pun intended) cranks it up to 11. It’s a hilarious look at the fictional underground vampire scene in New Zealand, where Waititi is from.

While a sequel (or prequel) has long been teased and talked about, it turns out fans of the film will be getting something a bit different. In late March, a new series with the same name will premiere on FX. Unfortunately it won’t feature Waititi or Jermaine Clement returning in their original roles, but from the looks of this teaser video, the new cast should carry the torch with ease.

The new series will take place in America, as a new crop of undead blood suckers get used to life in good ‘ol U.S. of A. The new series stars  actors like Doug Jones (The Shape of Water), Beanie Feldstein (Lady Bird), Kayvan Novak (Thunderbirds Are Go), and Matt Berry (Toast of London) in new roles.

Here’s the new teaser:

And here’s a much longer official Season 1 trailer, in case you missed it before:

Waititi may not be on screen this time around, but the Thor: Ragnorok director is still involved in the writing and producing, so fans can expect more of the same clever humor and vampire shenanigans when What We Do in the Shadows hits FX on March 27.
