HBO, Zack Snyder Reportedly in Talks For ‘Watchmen’ TV Show

Director Zack Snyder’s 2009 adaptation of Alan Moore’s legendary graphic novel Watchmen has divided fans ever since its release, but if a new report is to be believed, it looks like we might be seeing a new rendition on the small-screen in the next few years.

Collider is reporting that Snyder has been meeting with HBO to discuss a possible Watchmen TV series. Unfortunately, it is not known yet whether this would simply be a more in-depth adaptation of the original comic or a prequel series focused on the events set out in the more recent Before Watchmen comic run.

This is promising news. Whatever the Watchmen’s faults, it’s hard to deny that it was a largely faithful adaptation that showcased Snyder’s talent for creating striking visuals. If he and HBO reach an agreement, we’d put our money on the Watchmen show being a prequel, since the 2012 limited series has a lot of content to pull from that hasn’t been adapted to the screen yet.

If a Watchmen series does come to fruition, it won’t be for a few years at least. Might as well give the film trailer another look to get a reminder of what a new series might look and feel like:
