Well, this is interesting.

Variety is reporting that HBO is in talks with Damon Lindelof (Lost, The Leftovers) to create a new adaptation of Alan Moore’s seminal graphic novel Watchmen.

This is actually the second time HBO has tries to develop a Watchmen series, as the premium channel tried to get something going back in 2014. Reportedly, Lindelof’s version would be a fresh take and have nothing to do with the previous effort.

Personally, this news has me very excited. While I will always hold a candle for Zack Snyder’s 2009 Watchmen film, I’d love to see what Lindelof’s take would look like. The Leftovers, which just wrapped up its third and final season a few weeks ago on HBO, is one of my favorite television series ever and I’m sure Lindelof’s version of Watchmen would be an incredibly challenging and rewarding viewing experience.

Plus, it’s safe to say an HBO adaptation of Watchmen would have copious amounts of Doctor Manhattan dong. I’m not saying that’s a good or bad thing, but rather just a statement of fact.
