Peter Dinklage has played Tyrion Lannister across all seven seasons of Game of Thrones, but like with every other character on the show, the end is fast approaching. Whether or not Tyrion survives the events of the show’s eighth and final season is anyone’s guess, but we do know that it “ends beautifully” for his character.
Speaking with ET during a red carpet interview, Dinklage hinted a brilliant ending not just for himself, but the entire show as a whole.
“There are no better writers in television than Dan Weiss and David Benioff,” Dinklage said. “They ended it brilliantly. Better than I could have imagined and you people are in for it. It ends beautifully for my character whether it be tragic or not.”
Dinklage’s performance as the resourceful Tyrion Lannister has been one of the most acclaimed in Game of Thrones’ entire run, as it’s netted the actor three Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series Emmy awards, most recently during the 7oth Primetime Emmy awards in 2018.
Just last week, Dinklage’s co-star Sophie Turner discussed the finale and said that it will likely divide fans. “I think a lot of fans will be disappointed and a lot of fans will be over the moon,” Turner said. “I think it will be really interesting to see people’s reactions.”
Game of Thrones Season 8 still doesn’t have a firm release date, but according to HBO, it’s coming in the first half of 2019.
