Although Game of Thrones tends to get rid of characters simply by killing them off, there are a fair number of cases where characters have simply disappeared for multiple seasons. One of the most prominent of these is young Rickon Stark, who hasn’t been seen since season three’s “The Rains of Castermere” when he departed for the safety of The Last Hearth with his protector Osha.
We had assumed that we’d probably see Rickon again at some point, but thanks to a slip of the tongue from actress Maisie Williams, we now know that Rickon will make a comeback this season.
During a BBC Radio 1 interview on Thursday morning, Williams accidentally confirmed that Rickon will be coming back in season six. “Ye-es,” she hesitantly replied when asked by a caller whether Arya Stark’s baby brother would be heard from this season. “Yes. Maybe.” Then: “Yes, we will indeed … Oh no, I’m literally going to get off the air and someone’s going to email me!”
To emphasize just how long Rickon’s absence has been, here’s what Art Parkinson, the actor who plays him, looks like now:

The return of the oft-forgotten youngest Stark child is all well and good, but couldn’t Maisie Williams at least also confirmed if Gendry would be coming back too? As far as we know, he’s still out there in the Narrow Sea, just rowing away…
