GAME OF THRONES: Here’s What Littlefinger’s Secret Letter Says

HBO

The Lannisters aren’t the only family with sibling squabbles, as the relationship between Sansa and Arya Stark began to sour in the latest episode of Game of Thrones, “Eastwatch.” Unfortunately, the two Stark girls also have to contend with Littlefinger manipulating the situation in secret, as he set Arya up to find a secret letter written by Sansa that only seemed to make Arya even more distrustful of her sister.

While we only catch a glimpse of what’s written on the letter, Reddit user Opa1979 has decoded the whole thing. Here’s what it says:

“Robb, I write to you with a heavy heart. Our good king Robert is dead, killed from wounds he took in a boar hunt. Father has been charged with treason. He conspired with Robert’s brothers against my beloved Joffrey and tried to steal his throne. The Lannisters are treating me very well and provide me with every comfort. I beg you: come to King’s Landing, swear fealty to King Joffrey and prevent any strife between the great houses of Lannister and Stark. Your faithful sister, Sansa.”

This is yet another callback to events from the first season, when Sansa was held captive by the Lannisters in King’s Landing and was forced to write this letter to her brother Robb. Robb and his advisers recognized that the letter did not tell the truth, prompting the northern houses to declare Robb the King in the North and march south. The problem is, Arya doesn’t know this and will likely have taken the letter the wrong way, which is exactly what Littlefinger wants.

As good of an assassin as Arya is now, she has little experience dealing with Littlefinger and according to showrunner Dan Weiss, Arya has severely underestimated his abilities:

“She hasn’t dealt with Littlefinger for a while, so she gets roped into spying on somebody who’s actually leading her by the nose to something that he wants her to have,” said Weiss. “He’s looking for a way to prevent this sister bond from developing further because the tighter that bond is the more definitively he is caught on the outside of it.”

Hopefully Arya and Sansa will realize what Littlefinger is doing before it’s too late. One thing seems certain though: at least one of these characters isn’t making it out of this season alive.
