So last Sunday’s episode of Game of Thrones, “Battle of the Bastards,” was pretty great, right? From a technical level alone, it was one of the best things in TV history, with impressive battle sequences that put many blockbuster movies with much larger budgets to shame.
Still, no episode is perfect, and there are a few noteworthy issues with “Battle of the Bastards” that are worth pointing out. One of the most frustrating was the way the episode handled Rickon Stark’s death. Specifically, the fact that Rickon ran in a straight line instead of doing anything else as his captor, Ramsay Bolton, fired arrows at him from across a field. Many people (us included) have questioned why Rickon didn’t try to zigzag in order to avoid being hit, a position that Art Parkinson, the actor who plays Rickon, evidently holds as well:
Had a good run #shouldazigzagged

It’s good to see that Parkinson has a sense of humor about the whole situation. After all, the only character who really seemed to give a damn about him was also killed off uncerimoniously earlier this season, so perhaps Rickon and Osha have just moved on to better (read: less depressing) things.
