Game of Thrones star Liam Cunningham, who plays Ser Davos Seaworth on the popular HBO series, has weighed in on one of this season’s most popular fan theories.
Many viewers have been debating whether or not Sansa Stark is pregnant with Ramsay “Dogmeat” Bolton’s child based on several hints that have been dropped over the course of the season, including one from Ramsay himself. Just before his death in last Sunday’s episode, “Battle of the Bastards,” Ramsay told his estranged wife, “You can’t kill me. I’m part of you now,” suggesting that he’s aware of the child Sansa is carrying. But Cunningham doesn’t think this theory holds water (pun intended).
Speaking with the Huffington Post, Cunninham shot down the idea that Sansa is pregnant, arguing that there’s no way Ramsay would have known if she was carrying his child.
“Unless he’s got one of those ‘Game of Thrones’ pregnancy sticks, he’s not gonna know,” said Cunningham. “I think, I would imagine, it’s open to whatever you want it to be, but I think he’s saying he’s put himself into her head. That’s what I took from it. She’s never gonna get rid of him because of what he’s done to her. He knows what he’s done to her. It was off camera, what he was doing to her, but we all know what it was. But I think he’s placed himself in her soul for all the wrong reasons.”
So does this close the book on those pregnancy rumors? It’s hard to say for sure, but it does seem strange that Sansa would tell Ramsay, “Your words will disappear. Your House will disappear. Your name will disappear. All memory of you will disappear,” if she knew that she was going to give birth to his child.
