In a press release from FX, the TV network has announced they’re renewing the series for a second season as a result of the overwhelmingly positive reception of the first handful of episodes. The presidents of original programming for FX, Nick Grad and Eric Schreier announced the second season’s confirmation.
Grad stated the following:
“The series premiered as the highest rated cable series this year and continues to sustain a committed fan base, reflecting the talent and drive of creators Kurt Sutter and Elgin James. We couldn’t be more excited to take this ride to a second season”
The FX press release has revealed that the program has become the #1 new cable series of 2018, also receiving some of the highest ratings among male viewers.
The series is only half way through it’s first season, and already averages roughly 8.2 million viewers per episode. Not a common theme for the often-botched spinoff projects. Luckily for Sons of Anarchy and Mayans fans alike, it would seem this new series is an honorable successor from the original MC club series.
The second season of Mayans M.C is set to release in 2019
