If you’ve been feeling like your life has been lacking in blood-soaked motorcycle gang violence ever since Sons of Anarchy rode off into the sunset — or more accurately, into the path of an oncoming semi — you’ll be excited to hear that FX has agreed to SOA creator Kurt Sutter’s proposal for a spinoff series called Mayan MC.

It looks like the pilot will feature a Sons of Anarchy character too, as Emilio Rivera, who played recurring character Marcus Alvarez, posted this photo on his Instagram account:

Not much is known about the new show yet, but apparently it will follow a new member in the club as he comes to grips with the violent life of being in a motorcycle gang. Here’s the official plot synopsis:

“Mayans MC is set in a post Jax Teller world, where EZ Reyes, a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the Cali/Mexi border, struggles with his desire for vengeance against the cartel, and his need for respect from the women he loves.”

With Sons of Anarchy being one of FX’s most popular shows over the course of its seven season run, we could see this one getting picked up for a full season order, if not multiple seasons.

Production is set to begin this March.
