The upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series has been officially delayed and although that might sound like a bummer, according to Ewan McGregor, it’s really not a big deal.

During a recent interview with Variety to promote the upcoming release of Birds of Prey – which arrives in theatres on February 7th – Ewan McGregor shared a few details about the state of the Kenobi series after it was revealed yesterday that the show’s head writer was being replaced, pushing the shooting date back to early 2021.

“I think we start shooting early next year as opposed to summer this year. I think the scripts are great. They’re in really good shape. They want them to be better. I think we keep our same airdate. All good,”

The actor went on to downplay the whole thing, reiterating that the show’s delay is nothing to lose sleep over.

“I didn’t realize until we got here tonight and everybody is going, ‘Oh, my god!’ But it’s not really as dramatic as it might seem.”

What are your thoughts on the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series? Given the success of The Mandalorian, should Disney consider making more Star Wars shows or would it be better to wait and see how the Kenobi and The Mandalorian play out first? Let us know in the comments below.
