Ed Sheeran’s ‘Game of Thrones’ Character May Have Suffered a Horrible Tragedy

Game of Thrones is no stranger to cameo appearances. Members of the band Coldplay performed at the Red Wedding, Gary Lightbody from Snow Patrol was seen singing with Bolton men, metal band Mastadon make cameo appearances as bearded wildlings, and of course British pop star Ed Sheeran appeared briefly as a member of the Lannister army who crossed paths with Arya Stark on her travels.

Sheeran went on record wishing that his character would “brutally, brutally murdered,” but his cameo appearance came and went in Season 7 without much drama. However, eagle-eyes viewers picked up some throwaway lines from the Season 8 premiere that seem to suggest that Sheeran’s character still managed to suffer a terrible fate.

During Bronn’s scene in the brothel, the women entertaining him carry on a gruesome conversation about a Lannister soldier who survived the dragon attack as they were transporting the Tyrell loot back to King’s Landing.

“That boy Eddie…” says one woman.

“The ginger?” asks another.

“That’s him,” she continues. “Came back with his face burned off. He’s got no eyelids now.”

“How does he sleep with no eyelids?”

One Redditor even pointed out that Sheeran seemed to confirm this theory in his Instagram story by posting “Thanks @gameofthrones, I know I was a survivor.”

A survivor, yes. But now you have no eyelids, so that probably sucks almost as bad as dying.
