The twisted sci-fi anthology series Black Mirror is returning to Netflix, and sooner than you might expect!
The streaming service announced that a fifth season of the disturbing but widely popular series will hit the internet on June 5. Unfortunately for fans, it sounds like the new season will only include three episodes. Series creator Charlie Brooker is once again behind the tales, which feature an impressive cast including Anthony Mackie (Avengers, 8 Mile), Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana, The Voice), and Topher Grace (That 70s Show). Interestingly, Grace also appeared in another sci-fi anthology series on Netflix, having a role in one of the shorts from Love, Death, and Robots.
Here’s the trailer:
It’s hard to figure out exactly what the episodes will be about, or which clips fit together, but here’s some notable guesses:
-An episode where a man rebels against the increasingly intrusive levels of technology in his life.
-An episode about a man using a Tinder-like technology to escape the boredom of his marriage.
-An episode about a lonely young woman who seeks companionship from an AI toy.
But then, there’s a bunch of other clips that don’t seem to match:
-Miley Cyrus performing on stage
-A virtual reality fist fight.
-Some sort of machine resembling a CT Scan.
-Topher Grace looking homeless and hopeless.
How does it all fit together? We won’t find out until June 5.
