Bill Nye Tries To Save The World On Netflix This Spring

Scientist, mechanical engineer, and hero to millions of children in the 90’s, Bill Nye is bringing his unique mix of education and entertainment to Netflix in early 2017, as the streaming service officially announced the creation of Bill Nye Saves The World, a talk show that will combine interviews with professionals as well as Nye’s trademark experiments in order to shine the light on some hot button scientific issues in modern popular culture. Topics set to be discussed include climate change, vaccinations, and genetically modified foods. The intent of the show is reportedly to counter the increasing wave of “anti-scientific thought” and “anti-intellectualism” that has become prevalent in recent years, in an informative and entertaining format.

Nye himself had this to say about his new show:

“Since the start of the ‘Science Guy’ show, I’ve been on a mission to change the world by getting people everywhere excited about the fundamental ideas in science,” said Nye. “Today, I’m excited to be working with Netflix on a new show, where we’ll discuss the complex scientific issues facing us today, with episodes on vaccinations, genetically modified foods and climate change. With the right science and good writing, we’ll do our best to enlighten and entertain our audience. And, perhaps we’ll change the world a little.”
