It’s well known that it’s hard to meet people nowadays, but these celebrities were able to make time for work and their personal lives by dating their TV co-stars. For some, their on-screen love story played out in real life, while for others their romance ended long before the series was cancelled.
15. Mad for the Gilmore Girl
Vincent Kartheiser (Pete Campbell) had a brief affair with housewife Alexis Bledel (Beth Dawes) in Mad Men, season four. Their off-screen romance outlasted their 1960s fling and they married in 2014.
14. The Big Bang Theory
Even though their characters Penny and Leonard are engaged on Big Bang, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting and Johnny Galecki are no longer together after dating from 2008 to 2010. Cuoco-Sweeting has been married to Ryan Sweeting since 2013.
13. That 70s Couple
Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher met while playing Jackie Burkhart and Michael Kelso on That 70s Show. While their characters had an off-again, on-again relationship, Kunis and Kutcher did not get together off set until fairly recently. Rumors abound about whether they are married, but they did have their first child together in 2014.
12. One Tree Hill
Chad Michael Murray (Lucas Scott) and Sophia Bush (Brooke Davis) could not make it work on and off the air. The couple was married for a few months before filing for divorce in 2006. Murray is now married to Sarah Roemer, who is currently pregnant with their first child.
Love was lost between Dominic Monaghan (Charlie Pace) and Evangeline Lilly (Kate Austen) when the actors split in 2009 after dating for five years. Both would work together again in the Lord of the Rings trilogy as hobbit Meriadoc Brandybuck and elf Tauriel.
Anne-Marie Duff (Fiona Gallagher) and James McAvoy (Steve McBride) make out scenes were prep for their real life romance. These lovebirds married in 2006 and have one child together.
On set, Hayden Panettiere (Claire Bennett) and Milo Ventimiglia (Peter Petrelli) play niece and uncle, but off screen, it was another story. They dated a year before they called it off. Ventimiglia also dated Gilmore Girls co-star Alexis Bledel for three years.
8. The O.C.
Rachel Bilson (Summer Roberts) met and fell for co-star Adam Brody (Seth Cohen) while filming The O.C. While the two get married in the last season, in real life the couple split up after two years of dating.
7. Gossip Girl
Leighton Meester and Sebastian Stan heated up the screen as Blair Waldorf and Carter Baizen in Gossip Girl. Their relations on the show led to a three year relationship in real life. The couple broke it off in 2010 and Meester is now married to Adam Brody and the actress is currently pregnant.
6. Before Ryan There Was Penn
Blake Lively and Penn Badgley had some pretty steamy scenes while portraying Serene van der Woodsen and Dan Humphrey on Gossip Girl, but they were also hot and heavy off screen as well. The couple dated from 2007 to 2010 before parting ways and Lively is now married to Ryan Reynolds.
5. More Gossip Girl
Ed Westwick (Chuck Bass) and Jessica Szohr (Vanessa Abrams) shared smooches on and off set of CV’s Gossip Girl. The co-stars dated from 2008 to 2010.
4. True Blood
Although their romance did not end well on True Blood, Sookie and Bill’s love lives on off set. Anna Paquin (Sookie) and Stephen Moyer (Bill) have been married since 2010 and the couple have two children, twins Charlie and Poppy.
3. Mr. Darcy
It looks like Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett do get together in real life as well as on screen. Colin Firth (Mr. Darcy) and Jennifer Ehle (Elizabeth Bennett) dated while shooting the BBC miniseries Pride and Prejudice in 1995. Sadly, they parted and Ehle married Michael Scott Ryan in 2001 and Firth married Livia Giuggioli in 1997.
2. You Know Nothing Jon Snow
The young lad from the Night’s Watch, Kit Harrington (Jon Snow) broke his vows when he fell for wildling Rose Leslie (Ygritte) on HBO’s Game of Thrones. While their love was cut short by her untimely death, the couple have been seen together on and off again ever since.
Dylan McDermott who portrays Jack Larsen and Maggie Q who plays Beth Davis on CBS’ Stalker fell in love on set. While their show was cancelled after one season, the couple’s romance continues and they are currently engaged.
