Good to news for anyone who’s ever had to search through all the crap that has infiltrated Apple’s App Store over the years — things are gonna change for the better!
With the upcoming release of the new iPhone 7 and iOS 10, Apple has emailed app developers and given them a warning: make sure your app works and follows our rules, or else we’re pulling it completely.
Apple will start reviewing existing apps and will be looking for old, outdated ones that haven’t been updated in years. They will also be looking for anything that looks like spammy behavior, like requesting positive reviews in exchange for in-game currency. There will also be a 50 character limit on App titles now, which should help with those apps who cram keywords into their titles in an effort to appear at the top of different searches.
Apple will start their review process on September 7. Any offending developers will have 30 days to fix their software, or Apple will be pulling it from the store.
