‘WWE Superstars’ Has Officially Been Cancelled

One of WWE’s “B” shows officially got the axe this week, as “WWE Superstars” will no longer have matches taped before Raw. In the wake of the brand split and the debut of the new “Live 205” show, which will begin taping after Smackdown Live every week, WWE shuffled around their production schedule, which resulted in “WWE Main Event” tapings taking place before Raw, leaving no place for “Superstars”.

“Superstars” was revived in 2009 as a syndicated show on WGN America, and was originally envisioned as a show where main event wrestlers would often appear, but within weeks, the level of talent on the show dropped precipitously, and WGN kicked it off their network in early 2011, just under two years after it debuted. The show then moved to WWE Network and Hulu, where it’s fairly likely almost nobody watched it.
