WWE Smackdown Live Match Results – October 25, 2016

AJ Styles has not been having a very good time as WWE World Champion, plagued by the scourge of Dean Ambrose, and to a lesser extent, James Ellsworth. Tonight, Styles will face Ambrose, and if the Lunatic can score a win, he’ll become the #1 Contender, with a title match in his future. Can Ambrose’s mind games pay off? We’ve got all the results from this week’s Smackdown Live right here!

In the cold open, James Ellsworth thanked Dean Ambrose for helping him, and offered to be in Ambrose’s corner for his match with AJ. Ambrose politely declined.

Live from Green Bay, Wisconsin

– Bray Wyatt d. Kane in a No DQ match (pinfall, RKO)

Luke Harper interfered early, but the match continued until Randy Orton ran in and stared down Luke Harper…then RKO’d Kane and walked away.

Becky Lynch returned for an in-ring interview with Renee Young, but was interrupted by Alexa Bliss. Alexa accused Becky of faking an injury to duck her, and demanded Becky hand over the title and save everyone the trouble. Alexa tried a cheap shot, and the fight was on. Alexa eventually got the upper hand, planting Becky with a DDT, and spray-painted a yellow streak down Becky’s back.

– The Hype Bros d. The Ascension to qualify for the Survivor Series 10-team elimination match (Mojo pinned Viktor, Hype Ryder)

Backstage, Randy Orton explained his actions by saying “If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em”.

– Nikki Bella d. Natalya (submission, STF)

By winning, Nikki became captain of the Smackdown Women’s Survivor Series team, and Natalya was eliminated from being on the team. Carmella attacked Nikki after the finish, hitting her with a Bella Buster.

The Miz and The Spirit Squad came out to address the state of the Intercontinental Title, and Miz felt that these were dark days for the championship. Dolph Ziggler interrupted and offered Miz his rematch that second, but Miz claimed he alone would dictate when the rematch happened. Miz and Spirit Squad advanced on Ziggler, but Rhyno and Heath Slater appeared to even the odds. Miz hid behind Maryse, which Heath questioned, and accused Miz of running from a challenge. Miz challenged Heath and Rhyno to a title match on behalf of Kenny and Mikey.

– Rhyno and Heath Slater d. The Spirit Squad to retain the Smackdown Tag Team titles (Rhyno pinned Mikey, Gore)

Dolph and Miz were on commentary for the match, which resulted in them having a face-off at ringside. Kenny was knocked off the apron, flattening Miz and leading to the finish.

Backstage, Ellsworth again tried to get Ambrose to let him be at ringside, and after enough begging, Ambrose conceded.

– AJ Styles d. Dean Ambrose by DQ

During the match, Styles deliberately dropkicked Ellsworth at ringside. When Ambrose dumped Styles over the ropes, a fired-up Ellsworth hit Styles with No Chin Music in full view of the referee, who called for the DQ. As a result, Ambrose is not the #1 Contender.
