Last week, James Ellsworth cost Dean Ambrose two different title shots in three days, although he claims at least one of those was unintentional. This week, Ellsworth gets his World Title shot against AJ Styles, but will we finally get this much-anticipated match-up? Here’s all the results from this week’s episode of Smackdown Live!

Not actually live from Washington, DC. WWE taped their Tribute To The Troops special on the same evening, forcing them to tape Smackdown slightly ahead of time. 205 Live, which normally follows Smackdown, was also taped before Raw on Monday.

Backstage, Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan berated an obviously sick Ellsworth for interfering last week, and declared him unfit to compete that evening.

Another episode of Miz TV kicked off with Miz celebrating another successful title defense. His guest was AJ Styles, who was thrilled that Ellsworth had been sent home, but didn’t really care because Styles wasn’t worried about him at all. Miz started casting shade on Styles’ abilities, and claimed to be a level above AJ. Before a fight could break out, Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler arrived to stare down Styles and Miz. After a well-placed insult, Ziggler was laid out by Miz, who was taken out by Ambrose with Dirty Deeds. Styles wandered away from ringside, and Ambrose also hit Ziggler with Dirty Deeds. The Wyatt Family effect played, and Luke Harper appeared, levelling Ambrose with a clothesline.

Backstage, Daniel and Shane ordered Ambrose, Ziggler, Miz, and Harper into an Elimination Match, with the winner to face Styles on the final Smackdown of 2016. Any outside interference would be punished with the benefactor being eliminated.

Before her match, Natalya attempted to convince Nikki Bella, who was on commentary, that she was not responsible for the attack at Survivor Series.

– Carmella d. Natalya (pinfall, Small Package)

Natalya was distracted by constantly protesting to Nikki, allowing Carmella to get the pin.

Backstage, Apollo Crews and Gabriel Iglesias were accosted by Miz and Maryse. Insults about Hawaiian shirts and funny-looking but expensive suits were exchanged.

– Zack Ryder won a 12-Man Battle Royal to make The Hype Bros #1 Contenders to the Smackdown Tag Team Titles

Alexa Bliss refused to fight her scheduled opponent, Deonna Purazzo, because she didn’t feel it was worth her time. Bliss then attacked Purazzo and threw her out of the ring. Becky Lynch came out and pointed out that Bliss was in ring gear this week, and once again demanded her rematch. Bliss accepted the challenge, but not for that night. This prompted an appearance from Shane McMahon, who started the match immediately.

– Becky Lynch d. Alexa Bliss by count-out when Bliss faked a knee injury at ringside. Bliss retained the Smackdown Women’s Title.

– Dolph Ziggler won a Fatal 4-Way Elimination Match to become #1 Contender to the WWE World Title

Eliminations

1. Dean Ambrose eliminated The Miz (pinfall, Small Package)
2. Dean Ambrose eliminated Luke Harper (pinfall, Dirty Deeds)
3. Dolph Ziggler eliminated Dean Ambrose (pinfall, Superkick)

The Miz came back to interfere after his elimination, ultimately distracting Ambrose and allowing Ziggler to pick up the win.
