On the latest episode of the Stone Cold Podcast, the legendary “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, who has not wrestled a match since he faced The Rock at WrestleMania XIX in what would end up being his retirement match, clarified his position on whether or not he’ll be wrestling when WrestleMania 32 comes to his home state of Texas. As always happens in the build to WrestleMania, speculation around whether or not Austin could find it in him to wrestle one last match arises. Austin has resisted up until this point, but could the prospect of potentially wrestling in front of over 100,000 hometown fans sway him to lacing up the boots one more time?
Sadly, that doesn’t appear to be the case, as Austin himself stated on his show:
“I’m not willing to do anything that my heart’s not set on… I love my fans, I love the WWE fans, I love wrestling fans, I love wrestling… I just don’t need to wrestle anymore.”
It’s hard to complain, by all accounts Austin is healthier and happier than he’s ever been, with a reality show, a massively successful podcast, and more money than any reasonable person would know what to do with thanks to his hugely successful career. However, just because he won’t be wrestling, don’t be surprised to see Austin make an appearance at WrestleMania, even if it is only to cut a promo, drink a few beers, and maybe even hand out a few choice Stunners. And really, isn’t that all we want to see anyway?
