The Golden State Warriors have booked their place in a third-straight NBA Finals, and team owner Joe Lacob isn’t hiding his feelings about wanting another rematch. He wants King James. He wants the Cleveland Cavaliers.
“I don’t care who we play, but my preference is Cleveland. We have some unfinished business,” Joe Lacob said after the Warriors sweeped the San Antonio Spurs.
The Cavaliers are currently up 2-1 in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Boston Celtics. However, no one really thinks the Celts have a chance to win the series, especially after losing Isaiah Tomas for the rest of the playoffs, easily their best player.
“We were the better team [in 2016], but they did win,” Lacob added. “We need a chance to go in there and prove that.”
After blowing a 3-1 lead in the 2016 NBA Finals, the Warriors went out in the off-season and added Kevin Durant to their already explosive starting line-up. With the two teams having already met in the last two Finals, with each taking home one championship a piece, basketball fans around the world are anxiously awaiting Round 3 between the two heavyweights of the hard court.
The NBA Finals start in Oakland on June 1, where the Warriors will host Game 1. Presumably, LeBron and the Cavs will be the visitors.
