The Star Wars Celebration began today in Orlando, kicking off a week of events and appearances related to the popular sci-fi franchise. Unfortunately, one notable cast member of both the original trilogy and the new official episodic sequels isn’t here. Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia (and later General Organa), sadly passed away at the end of 2016.
After a 40th anniversary panel today, the following video was played for fans (and then uploaded to YouTube). It included personal messages from George Lucas, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, and Fisher’s daughter Billie Lourd, along with with plenty of clips from the movies, as well as behind the scenes footage showing what an amazing talent she really was.
