As he prepares to one day take over the entire company, Triple H held what has become his traditional pre-TakeOver conference call with the pro wrestling media, where he openly discusses the future plans for WWE’s developmental system. Here are some of the highlights:

– Despite the rumors started by Kevin Nash during a recent interview, Shawn Michaels is not taking over as head coach at the Performance Center. That job still belongs to Matt Bloom, who Triple H lauded for his work. Triple H said Michaels’ job in Orlando is not yet fully defined, but will lean towards “polishing” talent that is almost ready to make the leap to the main roster.

– Another rumor that NXT had initially tried to get Trish Stratus to face Asuka at TakeOver: Toronto was quashed, as Triple H said that Mickie James was always their first choice once they determined that the Women’s Division in NXT needed time to grow before they could conceivably challenge Asuka, so an outside challenger was necessary.

– There are no current plans for NXT to become a live show outside of TakeOver events.

– Triple H hopes that the new ‘205 Live’ show will help differentiate the cruiserweights from the rest of the roster

– NXT is currently in the middle of a rebuilding phase after so many wrestlers were promoted to the main roster after WrestleMania and during the Draft, but Triple H has been thrilled that they’ve continued to produce content at a high level of quality.
