Anyone who watched last year’s season of WWE Tough Enough will remember former alligator wrangler Zamariah “ZZ” Loupe, whose likable personality overcame his lack of in-ring ability to score him a runner-up position behind male winner Josh Brendl. ZZ was signed to a developmental contract with WWE shortly after the show, and was a featured performer on the WWE Network show Breaking Ground, which focused on several talents at the WWE Performance Center. Despite showing significant progress since signing, and even making his debut at a recent NXT live event, there are reports that ZZ was released from his contract today.
Along with ZZ, Josh Woods and Tom Kingdon, two other developmental talents that had not yet found a regular role on NXT were also released. According to sources, more releases are expected in the wake of WWE’s most recently quarterly financial report.
