Smackdown Ratings Take A Hit Against Fall TV Premieres

The start of the new fall TV season was not kind to Smackdown’s ratings, as several high-profile returns and debuts likely contributed to a slide in their viewership. Overall, the show, which featured Dean Ambrose pinning John Cena in the main event, as well as The Miz defending the Intercontinental Title against Dolph Ziggler, pulled in 2.29 million viewers and a 0.73 in the demographics, down significantly from last week. However, those numbers were still good enough to put Smackdown at #1 among original cable programming for the night. It will be interesting to see how the blue brand rebounds next week, with an already-announced main event of Dean Ambrose facing AJ Styles in a rematch for the WWE World Championship.
