It was probably pretty unlikely that Smackdown would beat Raw in the ratings for a second straight week without help from a heavily-hyped Draft, but the good news is, the show still did far better in the ratings than it had before the Brand Extension took place. The first live Tuesday episode of Smackdown averaged 2.74 million viewers and a 0.98 rating in the 18-49 demographic, a sizable drop from last week’s 3.17 million viewers, but still well above the pre-Draft episodes, which had averaged roughly 2 million viewers. Overall, it was the highest rated Smackdown in years and the highest number of viewers the show has had since January of 2015 (not including last week’s Draft episode). The show finished #2 for the evening in cable original programming, behind CNN’s coverage of the Democratic National Convention.
