One of the best pure athletes in wrestling and one-half of the former World’s Greatest Tag Team during his first run in WWE is making his way back to the brand where he first made his name, as WWE has confirmed that multiple-time Tag Team and Intercontinental Champion Shelton Benjamin will be coming back to Smackdown, possibly as early as next week.
Since leaving WWE in 2010, Benjamin has been busy on the independent circuit, including notable runs in Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling. His return was first rumored when former Smackdown GM Teddy Long revealed that WWE had offered Benjamin a contract in a recent interview. Long also mentioned a similar situation for former US Champion Montel Vontavious Porter, so we’ll see if he can go 2 for 2 in the near future.
