Seven Names Confirmed For WWE Global Cruiserweight Series

A few weeks ago, WWE announced the Global Cruiserweight Series, a tournament featuring wrestlers from around the world, not all of them under WWE contract, that will air as a 10-episode season on the WWE Network. We can now confirm the following seven names as the first entrants into the tournament.

– Zack Sabre Jr.
– Johnny Gargano
– Rich Swann
– Tommaso Ciampa
– Noam Dar
– Ho ho Lun
– Akira Tozawa

Gargano, Ciampa, and Swann are all former independent wrestlers who have recently made multiple appearances on NXT and appear to have at least a working relationship with WWE. Zack Sabre Jr. is one of the hottest young talents on the independent circuit today, and his participation in this tournament has to be considered a huge ‘get’ for WWE. Tozawa is probably the most well-known of the rest, having worked regularly in America for some independent promotions, and has teamed with current WWE Superstars Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, and Dean Ambrose, among others, in the past.

It is expected that there will be more names added in the future, both from within WWE and from across the globe, so we will keep you updated!
