Ryback May Be The Latest Pro Wrestler To Attempt MMA

Brock Lesnar, CM Punk, and… Ryback?

The former WWE superstar known as Ryback aka The Big Guy (real name: Ryan Allen Reeves, before he legally changed his first name to Ryback) has been in talks with Bellator MMA about becoming to next pro wrestler to cross over into the world of mixed martial arts. According to Dave Meltzer, the 34-year old Ryback has spoken with Bellator CEO Scott Coker about joining the organization.

Coker confirmed that the two sides have spoken, but said that there was nothing else to confirm yet.

“Spoke, but nothing close,” said Coker about the situation.

Ryback left the WWE earlier this year, frustrated with how the company was using him and how he was paid in comparison to the guys at the top of the card. Since then he has been working the independent wrestling circuits under the name “The Big Guy,” since he wasn’t legally allowed to use the name Ryback. While certainly has the size for MMA (he’s 6’2″ and 290 pounds), he doesn’t have a real fighting background. Then again, neither did CM Punk and he made $500,000 to get beat up by Mickey Gall in just two minutes.
