Rafael Dos Anjos: “If Conor McGregor Fought Me, He’d Be Dead”

Conor McGregor is trash talking up a storm while doing promotional work for UFC 202. Fresh off insulting the entire WWE roster (and getting plenty of angry replies from the wrestlers themselves), McGregor was asked about the fight that never happened — his lightweight title fight against then-champion Rafael Dos Anjos.

As per usual, the bras Irishman exuded confidence in his reply.

“Realistically I should be a two-weight UFC world champion,” McGregor said on a media call Friday, according to Bloody Elbow’s Mookie Alexander. “If I fought Rafael dos Anjos, if he didn’t p—y out of that last one and showed up, the shots I cracked Nate within the first eight minutes would’ve KO’d Rafael dos Anjos stiff. That’s no question.”

Dos Anjos had to back out of that planned UFC 196 fight after breaking his foot in training. Nate Diaz stepped in on 10-days notice and shocked the world by choking out McGregor in the second round, after thoroughly out-boxing him in the first. Diaz and McGregor will have a rematch at UFC 202.

Dos Anjos apparently heard those comments, and took to Twitter to give a pretty serious sounding reply.

His hashtag game needs a little work (no punctuation!), but Dos Anjos certainly doesn’t think McGregor could have beaten him. We may never know the answer for sure, as UFC president has stated that McGregor will return to the featherweight division after his rematch with Diaz, regardless of the outcome. Additionally, Don Anjos is now an ex-champion, after dropping the lightweight title to Eddie Alvarez in June.
